Tasting Notes and Characteristics:

Crisp and lively, Louis Roederer Collection 246 Brut invites celebration and attentive sipping, with a bright mousse and a nervy acidity that lifts the palate. ABV (0.12), made in Champagne, France, it follows classic production traits of secondary fermentation in bottle, careful blending of plots and vintages, and extended lees aging to build texture and complexity.

On the nose and palate expect green apple, lemon zest, white stone fruit, subtle toasted brioche and a flinty mineral thread that keeps the finish taut. That tension and delicate creaminess make it an ideal partner for oysters, where the salinity and brine are echoed by the wine’s citrus and mineral tones, or with smoked salmon, where the wine’s acidity and toasty notes cut the oiliness and highlight the fish’s smoky depth.

Producer Information: Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer is a family-owned Champagne house based in Reims in the Vallée de la Marne and Montagne de Reims subregions of Champagne. Founded in 1776, the house expanded under Louis Roederer in the 19th century and built a vertically integrated model centered on estate-owned and long-term leased vineyards, vinification in stainless steel and oak when appropriate, and cellar techniques that emphasize extended lees aging and precision blending. Their vineyards supply high proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with some Pinot Meunier, and the house emphasizes careful viticulture, traceability, and progressive sustainability practices across holdings.

Beyond its flagship prestige cuvée Cristal, which dates from the late 19th century, Louis Roederer’s commercial portfolio covers a spectrum of Champagne styles: a signature non-vintage blend (Brut Premier), vintage cuvées, a rosé range, and single-parcel or single-vineyard bottlings such as Clos des Goisses. The house also releases blanc de blancs and blanc de noirs expressions and small-lot reserve wines drawn from older vines to support consistency and complexity. Louis Roederer does not have a large spirits or beer program; its public reputation and production focus remain squarely on Champagnes and cellar-driven still wine expressions linked to its vineyard estates.
