Description

Tasting Notes and Characteristics:

A sip of Dönnhoff Estate Riesling instantly lifts the senses with its vibrant citrus blossom and juicy white peach, unfolding into a delicate dance of minerality and racy acidity that lingers long after each taste. Crafted in Germany’s Nahe region from hand-harvested Riesling grapes, this wine captures the essence of cool-climate terroir, balancing subtle sweetness with a crisp, mouthwatering finish. At 11.50% ABV, it’s refreshingly light on its feet yet full of expressive character—making it an ideal companion for sushi or spicy Asian cuisine where its lively fruit and clean slate notes cut through rich flavors and heat.

Producer Information: Dönnhoff

Dönnhoff, rooted in the Nahe region of Germany, traces its origins to 1750 when the family first began cultivating vines along the river’s mineral-rich soils. Helmut Dönnhoff took over in 1971, guiding the estate with a philosophy centered on expressing the unique terroir of each vineyard parcel through meticulous viticulture and minimal intervention in the cellar. The winery is particularly celebrated for its Rieslings, which capture both purity and complexity thanks to selective hand harvesting and spontaneous fermentation. Beyond their dry and off-dry Rieslings, Dönnhoff also crafts elegant Pinot Blancs and Pinot Gris that reflect Nahe’s diverse microclimates. Their focus remains firmly on white wines from steep slate slopes around Oberhausen, emphasizing clarity of fruit and site expression rather than volume or trend-driven production.
